Cub Scouts is for boys and girls aged 8 to 10 years, but given Gordonvale Scout Groups size and our lack of a Joeys Leader we currently allow suitable children from the age of 6. Cubs focuses on exploring the outdoors, discovery and learning interesting things! Cub Scouts belong to a Pack and begin to learn leadership and teamwork in small teams called Sixes.
If you enjoy fun, games and learning new skills then you’ll love being a Cub Scout! You’ll get to go on camps with your Pack, and you might attend a Cuboree camp with hundreds of other Cub Scouts! As well as learning things like how to use a compass, you’ll go on bushwalks, bike trips, and have the chance to do things like sailing, canoeing, fishing, and abseiling!
We welcome you to come and join us for 4 weeks to help you decide if you would like to join up. Our meeting times can be found here.

Cubs love adventure
Cub Scouts are always having adventures. You might get to go abseiling, rock climbing, go-karting, sailing or canoeing. There’s lots of camping to be done, and we participate in the annual Tilapia Tussle fishing contest so there is always a new adventure to be had.
Friendship and Belonging
Making new friends and building social skills are very important for Cub Scouts. For some, belonging to Cub Scouts provides an opportunity to mix with a new group of people, developing their confidence and ability to make new friends. Cub Scout families are welcome to get involved too! There’s lots of opportunities for the whole family to make new friends and feel part of the Scouting community. Not every event is fast passed, something it is nice to just sit back and relax with your friends.
